Abineau LodgeBuilt in 1997 the Abineau Lodge is located in the sleepy village of Mountainaire just 10 minutes south of the City of Flagstaff and the Northern Arizona University Campus. We are conveniently located just 3 minutes east of I-17 and 5 minutes from the Pulliam Airport. We are 90 minutes from the Grand Canyon, less than 2 hours from Phoenix, and about 2 hours from both the Hopi and Navajo reservations, all favorite sites for international travelers. We are open 365 days a year and, as one of the largest B&Bs in Northern Arizona, almost always have rooms available, even for last minute reservations. We are also one of the only B&Bs that is large enough to host small weddings, business and corporate retreats, and family gatherings. We have both outdoor and indoor spaces available for group events when the Lodge is booked for overnight stays as well. For individual travelers looking for a unique getaway we have 8 rooms designed for couples. Each has a king, queen or double bed and private bathroom with tub and shower combined. Several rooms have in room fireplaces for warmth and comfort. Most are decorated in a western or mountain lodge theme with log beds, down comforters and hand crafted wooden accessories. Most rooms have ceiling fans. For a romantic getaway ask for our romance package with roses, bubbling cider, and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to your room before arrival. All rooms have keyed entry locks and deadbolts, in room smoke detectors, emergency exits and sprinkler systems for our guest’s safety. We are located in a safe area outside the city where most residents don’t lock their cars or their doors. For families with children 8 and over we have a family suite, two bedrooms with a king bed in one and two twins in the other. The room is also available for two couples as the twins can be converted into another king bed. Groups that book the entire Lodge can use our in house catering for dinners or lunches (breakfasts are already included) for an additional fee or can work with local caterers such as Simply Delicious, Main Street or Thornagers for more complex events. Children and adults love to visit with the Innkeepers small kennel of retired sled dogs: Chundar, Chuska, Copper, Pork Chop, Quiche, Jackal, Jean and Poole. They are the friendliest Siberian Huskies you’ll ever meet and particularly like it when guests bring them dog biscuits available at the front desk of the Lodge. The innkeepers also have two cats that live with the innkeepers in their house next door to the Lodge, but often are found lounging on the entry deck to greet guests when they arrive. Another family pet living next door is Spot, the stray dog who adopted us 5 years ago and never left. Other favorite on site activities include relaxing on the redwood decks and listening to the whisper of the pines; reading a good book from our library while sitting in front of the fireplace; playing games borrowed from our collection; taking a hike or bike ride in the woods behind the Lodge; watching the elk browse in the meadow. Off site activities include rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, down hill and Nordic skiing, visits to nearby National Parks, site seeing, visiting the Grand Canyon, star gazing at Lowell Observatory, taking a ride on the Grand Canyon or Verde Canyon railways, bird watching, wild life viewing, visiting the Museum of Northern Arizona, visiting the Hopi and Navajo reservations, attending Native American Indian ceremonies, playing golf, snowmobiling, going to a play, movie or visiting local art galleries. We are also a great choice to stay before and after a Grand Canyon River Rafting or kayaking trip. The innkeepers love the outdoors too and speak the language of adventure sports enthusiasts. If you’re middle aged like us and like a little luxury with your climbing, hiking or biking adventure you’ll love the Lodge. AARP discounts available. We are pleased to offer eco friendly Save Your World room amenities from the Rainforest Collection to all our guests. We also provide free parking (lot is large enough horse trailers or snow mobile trailers); self service, free snacks (popcorn, breakfast bars, trail mix, biscotti) and hot beverages (Kuerig coffee maker in the lobby) available 24 hours a day, plus a full plate of country breakfast every morning. Free wi-fi, computer, refrigerator, microwave and television located in the Parlor Room. View our web site: www.abineaulodge.com
